Soccer is a sport that requires a lot of dedication and discipline, and is full of passion, talent and emotion, for this reason it is constantly evolving, and one of the most important missions of soccer teams is to find new talent to strengthen their ranks and keep their team with a good performance and performance in competitions. That is where the most exciting part of the process comes in, which is discovering and signing great talent.
So, we are excited to announce that one of the players who has gone through our academy, Gino Vivi, has signed his first professional contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) and will wear the LA Galaxy jersey in the United States. A great opportunity that will allow him to take a place at the international level of soccer.
Since he joined the team in his native country, Costa Rica, Gino has distinguished himself as a player committed to his professional career, because he has always been characterized by setting goals and striving to achieve them. Throughout his career he has proven to be a young man with the ability to combine in an outstanding way the educational part with the discipline of soccer. All this makes him an inspiration for many young people and at TNGS, we strive to ensure that in our academy every NG Player can acquire enriching experiences and learning both on the soccer and personal side.
These same teachings shaped his ability to later obtain a scholarship to study at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in the United States. During his time at UCF between 2019 and 2022, he has scored 19 goals and recorded 23 assists in 61 games played. He was selected to the American Athletic Conference All-Conference team in his sophomore season (2020-21), where he tallied five goals and four assists in 14 games played as a starter for UCF. He also won several awards such as Rookie of the year, was part of the 11 ideal of the conference and was within the Rankings of the best players coming to the United States.
Vivi states in his interview for Propella, that discipline and organization is the key to balance the demands of studies and soccer, and that for him it was important to be able to do both disciplines, so that, it allowed him to do the sport he is most passionate about and get a college education. He is aware that soccer is not forever and that is why it is important to educate himself, and he achieved this achievement in December of last year, obtaining a degree in Commerce and Communication with a specialization in Digital Media.
Due to his quality and performance both educationally and athletically, he obtained the opportunity to continue his career in professional teams, being now selected by Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer through the DRAFT system, which consists of the selection of college soccer players developed by professional soccer teams in the United States. Obtaining his first professional contract at the age of 22 to participate as a midfielder forward, a one-year contract for the 2023 season, with a three-year extension option until 2026, this Costa Rican player will occupy an international cup in the LA Galaxy squad.
Gino Vivi shows us that with effort, discipline and perseverance you can achieve great goals and dreams, being now participating in one of the most promising leagues in the world, an opportunity he acquired by studying with a scholarship in the United States, which for Gino is a place that changed his life.
